Kris Leblanc - Director of Scouting + OMHA East and HEO Head Scout
Keenan McEwan - OMHA East Scout
Sean Meyers - OMHA East Scout
Brock Chitaroni - Barrie Colts - Forward
Brock Chitaroni leads the OMHA East with 9 goals and 7 assists for 16 points in only 9 regular season games, as well as 15 points in 11 games in tournament play, and has been a force for the Barrie Colts all month long. He has found great chemistry with his new teammates after playing up an age group with the 2008’s last season. You’ll first notice Brock as soon as he touches the puck. He scans for threats and can weave his way into the offensive zone or blow by defenders with speed, propelled by solid footwork and strong strides which also allow him to work freely in the offensive zone. He will take any space given to him and likes to work below the dots and pick corners on goalies from awkward angles or pass off to a teammate in the slot. Chitaroni is a threat to shoot from anywhere in the offensive zone and can fool goalies with a lightning quick release and laser accuracy and he can also quarterback the power play with his playing making. He uses his vision and playmaking to draw defenders to him which gives his teammates more space to work after he hits them with a tape to tape pass. Brock will continue to develop and get better and better, a player to watch closely all year long as he is seen as a top talent in this age group.
Blake Munnings - Quinte Red Devils - Defence
The Red Devils captain is a steadying presence on the back-end providing consistent and solid two-way play. He’s a big body that can move around the ice really well and cover a lot of ice. During his showings in the Toronto Titans and Wendy Dufton Tournament, where he scored 3 goals, he displayed a strong shot from the point and a willingness to remain active in the offensive zone. He can walk the blue line well and find shooting lanes to the net. He isn’t afraid to engage physically, has an active stick defensively and holds a tight gap in transition. A strong month of October for Munnings, showing why he’s trusted by his coaching staff to play a lot of important minutes for his Quinte team.
Owen James Curran - North Shore White Caps - Goalie
Curran is October’s OMHA East Goaltender of the Month. Owen put up a 3-0-1 record in 4 league games played this month, in addition to going 2-0 at the Toronto Titans Tournament . At 6’2, Curran has a large frame that challenges shooters, and provides the Whitecaps with a steady, quiet option in net. In our viewings of Curran, he displays good confidence in the net. His winning record, including a shutout against Kingston, shows the momentum he brings in net. We’ll look for his skillset to continue to grow in November.
