One of the most highly anticipated tournaments of the year did not disappoint, as 30 of the best U16 AAA teams across North America came together in Whitby, Ontario to battle for a championship, and it was the Huron Perth Lakers of the Alliance that came away victorious. It was the first time in 17 years that an Alliance team won the Silver Stick Tournament. Huron Perth won an eventful final matchup against the Toronto Red Wings with a 3-2 overtime win, with the game winner being scored by #1 centreman and team captain, Jake Murray. An impressive feat, seeing that they played most of the tournament with 4 defencemen and split goaltending duties. They only allowed 11 goals in 7 games throughout the tournament, and their offensive depth was on full display having every single player contribute on the score sheet, while their top scorer, Jack Taylor, “only” contributing 8 points in 7 games. There were plenty of top prospects showcasing their skills this weekend, read up on 100+ of them.
